  • Overview

    K-LOVE & Air1, the largest contemporary Christian radio networks in the United States, is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead the media ministries of Educational Media Foundation (EMF), parent company to K-LOVE & Air1 radio.

     

    Over our nearly 40-year history, God has grown our reach to more than 900 radio signals covering all 50 states. In more recent years, we have grown in streaming, digital and other media and events. We are committed to our mission of creating compelling media that inspires and encourages people to have a meaningful relationship with Christ.

     

    Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for executing the vision and mission of Educational Media Foundation (EMF). The CEO has oversight for the long-term strategy and is accountable for the results of the execution of the strategy. Leading an Executive Team, the CEO has ultimate responsibility for the growth of the ministry, the positive and encouraging brands, culture, operations, talent management and succession, and Board communication and reporting.

     

    As a passionate follower of Jesus Christ, the CEO leads based on Biblical principles and values. He/She will lead and engage others in a way that increases faith, perseverance and joy, and encourages others in faith, trust and hope in Christ. The CEO embodies our purpose of moving people closer to Jesus Christ.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties 

    • Proactively and positively influence the EMF culture, leading by example in demonstrating collaboration, empowerment, innovation and servant leadership.
    • Assure the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently Christ centered and presented with excellence.
    • Assure mission and vision sustainability and future impact through things like key technology, media, and generational initiatives.

    Strategic Vision & Leadership

    • Collaborate with the Board and Executive Committee to design, refine and implement strategic plans while ensuring that budget, staff and priorities are aligned with EMF’s core mission.
    • Formulate and execute comprehensive strategies that ensure vision and mission message consistency throughout the organization and with external partners and audiences.
    • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and strengthen internal communications with staff throughout the ministry; create and promote a positive work environment that supports alignment throughout the organization.

    Industry & Brand Communications

    • Ensure all programming, media, partnerships and operations are accomplished with excellence and follow Biblical principles.
    • Network with key leaders and organizations to promote and protect the interests and mission of EMF.
    • Enhance EMF’s leadership in the field through written communication, public speaking engagements and industry partnerships.
    • Accountable for all external communications and public relations.

    Financial & Donor/Industry Engagement

    • Ensure the development and implementation of short and long-term revenue and fundraising strategies, objectives and goals.
    • Serve as a resource for Donor Engagement, attending donor meetings, functions, and speaking engagements as appropriate.
    • Serve as an advocate, within the public and private sectors, for issues relevant to EMF, its services and constituencies.

    Board Partnership

    • Cultivate a strong, positive and transparent working relationship and unity with the Board of Directors. Keep the Board fully informed on the condition of EMF and important factors influencing it. Working with the Chairman of the Board, prayerfully ensure the Board and EMF move forward together as a healthy, high functioning team.
    • Create strategic direction and organizational policy in partnership with the Board.
    • Working with the finance team, recommend annual budget for Board approval and manage the organization's resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations.
    • Support the Board's evaluation of the Chief Executive’s position by providing regular reporting of personal and ministry goals, objectives, and results.

    Organizational Oversight

    • Ensure biblical values are at the forefront of organizational decisions.
    • Lead the Executive Team to establish ministry goals, objectives and accountability.
    • Provide oversight for all operations, including Finance, HR, Programming, Donor Engagement, Strategy Management and Legal.
    • Ensure development and succession planning for key positions throughout the organization.

    Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred

    Qualifications

    • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and testimony of faith. Demonstrated application of Biblical principles in life and leadership. Experience serving in ministry either vocationally or as a volunteer.
    • 10+ years of broad executive leadership experience providing strategic and hands-on leadership.
    • Experience crafting and communicating strategic vision. Track record of establishing and achieving strategic initiatives as well as the implementation of relevant goals and objectives, including measurements/metrics and the successful leadership, management, mentoring and training of staff.
    • Proven ability to grow and sustain organizational performance through others in a positive and compelling way.
    • Track record of transformational leadership and growth with exceptional change management skills.
    • Excellent relational and communication skills including written, verbal and presentation skills.
    • Experience working collaboratively with a Board of Directors.
    • Experience within media/technology. Digitally literate with an understanding of how digital is changing media and daily lives.
    • Non-profit work experience highly desired.

    The CEO will be the leader of Educational Media Foundation (EMF) and must possess the skills, knowledge and ability to inspire and equip staff and supporters to advance the ministry and increase focus on the growth and impact of the ministry through media. The CEO must have a deeply-held Christian faith and walk.
