  • Overview

K-LOVE and Air1 radio is the largest Christian broadcaster in the United States. In addition to our 900+ terrestrial radio signals, we are one of the 10 largest streaming audio services in the country. Every day we remind millions of people that there is hope; they are not alone.

We've got some innovative projects on the horizon, come joing us!

Would you like to build a fully automated, self-service audio delivery platform?

A system where our PDs can create a new format, add it to our streaming players plus a few dozen radio stations, entirely on their own?

A system where our DJs can broadcast from anywhere in the country, to any of our stations or streams, seamlessly?

A system that routes our audio signals around failed equipment, failed connections, and failed satellite uplinks, automatically, without loss of signal?

These are just a few of the exciting projects that you'll get to be a part of!

    Responsibilities

You will have two main responsibilities:

    1. First is a technical responsibility. We have over a dozen audio sources spread across three physical locations with two satellite/streaming uplinks at two physical locations. You will ensure that audio gets from whichever sources are active to whichever uplink is active. Switching sources should be transparent to the uplinks and switching uplinks should be transparent to the sources. This will require knowledge of AES3 and AES67 for sourcing audio and IP networking for routing and delivery (we use Cisco switches).
    2. Second is a process responsibility. A single broadcast is made of audio from many different sources. Our Production department combines music schedules, live DJs, and pre-recorded content to create the network feeds (we use GSelector and Zetta). Our Traffic department (on behalf of others) schedules regional content to override the network feeds in specific markets (we use Counterpoint and XDS for this). Our Engineering department handles legal IDs, EAS alerts, and switching between FM, HD, primary, and backup transmitters. You will be responsible for ensuring every person and system involved has everything they need to be successful with their piece of the puzzle. You will also be responsible for providing accurate visibility into what played, where, and when, to everybody involved.

    Qualifications

We are looking for a talented, humble, life-long learner to join our amazing team.

    Here's what we're looking for...

    • 7+ years’ experience working in an audio, broadcast, or related field.
    • Experience with IP networking, preferably multi-cast audio delivery.
    • Experience with traffic scheduling and store-and-forward devices.
    • Ability to work and communicate with technical and non-technical people, including engineers, software developers, program directors, and producers.
    • Ability to switch between high-level and detailed work, then effectively teach your team mates and partners what you’ve done.
    • A commitment to excellence, and a service-oriented mindset.
    • A history of and commitment to life-long learning.

This job will be based out of our headquarters in Rocklin, CA, but will require some travel to support our off-site studios and uplink.
