  • Overview

    Our Sr. Database Administrator administers all aspects of EMF databases by performing the following duties:  Implementation of data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance; resolution of database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication and other distributed data issues. The use of SQL Server 2016 is required.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead in the implementation of data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance; resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication and other distributed data issues.
    • Consult with supervisor, systems analysts, programmers, and end users to gather information about database intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems.
    • Design or write database specifications based on consultations with supervisor, systems analysts, programmers, and end users.
    • Apply generally accepted database programming standards and techniques to assure efficient database operation and data integrity and security.
    • Lead in the development of software databases to include: designing, coding, testing, debugging, configuring, and documenting software.
    • Convert designs and specifications into database implementation.
    • Create test transactions and run tests to find errors and confirm program meets specifications.
    • Analyze database code to find causes of errors and revise programs.
    • Independently prioritize and manage projects. Develop project plans; coordinate timelines; communicate changes and progress; and complete projects on time and on budget.  

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or university; or minimum 4 years of equivalent combination of education and experience in related field
    • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in SQL Server database management.
    • Expertise with relational database design, capacity planning, security, and other distributed data issues.
    • Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server 2016 in a Windows Server 2008 clustered environment. MCDBA preferred.
    • Microsoft .NET framework knowledge, SSIS, and Reporting Services a plus.
