Overview

Shape a vibrant culture at EMF! As the Communications Director, you will play a crucial role in shaping our long-term vision by identifying strategic marketing initiatives, fostering collaboration, and evaluating results to maintain our reputation for integrity and excellence. You will work closely with our Senior VP of Communications and collaborate with internal departments to ensure that our communication strategies align with our ministry objectives. Your responsibilities will include assessing performance, providing strategic recommendations, and overseeing the communication function to facilitate collaboration across the ministry and resolve conflicting priorities.

 

In addition to managing communication strategies for acquisitions and internal initiatives, you will provide valuable support to our ministry leadership team through resources such as talking points and speeches. As a leader, you will also have the opportunity to mentor and develop our communication team, fostering a learning environment rooted in biblical values and creative problem-solving. Here's some of what you will be doing:

  • Consult with senior leadership to provide communication strategies that protect, promote, and enhance the reputation of the organization.

  • Review and approves the work product of department staff, outside departments, and external vendors and freelancers to ensure quality, accuracy, and brand consistency.

  • Manage the communication strategy and direction for acquisitions, internal communication initiatives, newsletters, and ministry special events.

  • Oversee the writing and production of special reports, executive messages, fact sheets, brochures, newsletters, etc.

  • Provide strategic communication support to the SVP Communications and the Ministry Leadership Team in the form of talking points, speeches, and other resources.

  • Plans and directs administrative, financial, and operational activities for the department as needed and requested by senior management.

  • Organize and prioritize critical issues and required information to facilitate efficient decision making.

  • Provide strategic leadership, mentoring and developing a highly competent and responsive Communication team, ensuring alignment of goals and ministry initiatives with EMF’s mission.

  • Foster a learning environment where training, risk management, operational best practices, and biblical values go hand in hand with creative and entrepreneurial solution that best fulfill the ministry’s mission.

  • Assist with strategic planning and implementation for communication strategies with a focus on communication goals, timelines, budgets, results tracking, and celebration.

  • Assess communication performance against both annual goals and plans. Provide strategic recommendations based on operational analysis, research, and projections, cost identification and allocation, and resource analysis.

  • Contribute to long term planning and vision implementation through identification of strategic Marketing initiatives, collaboration, prioritization, communication, and evaluation of results, while preserving EMF’s reputation for integrity and excellence.

Here's some experience we are seeking: 

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, English, or related field, or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
  • Six plus years of communications and/or public relations experience is required.

  • Experience directing and/or managing comprehensive strategic communications, media relations, and related teams preferred.

  • Strong writing skills including a working knowledge of AP Style required.

  • Experience working closely with creative teams on the design and production of creative products that support strategic communication goals.

  • Effective communication skills written, verbal, listening, and presentation are required.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including senior management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.

  • A collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality. Need to be seen as a team player

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
