Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Prospect Development, the Prospect Development & Research Analyst primary responsibilities include conducting complex and independent research.
 
This entails reviewing biological and financial information on individuals to assess donor-giving potential based on assets and income.
 
This role will monitor economic trends through financial publications and services, SEC filings, corporate disclosures, and trade publications to quantify a donor prospect’s ability to give based on new and pre-existing sources of wealth, and to determine the gift ask amounts and timing approach.
 
The Prospect Development & Research Analyst will prepare analytical reports that summarize and synthesize data and other critical information to be used in creating and cultivating fundraising strategies.
 
This position will advise on creating fundraising strategies, write donor prospect briefings for the donor engagement team, and engage in ongoing consultation with respect to potential donors

 

This is an in-office role in Franklin, TN

 

Here’s just some of what you will be doing daily…

  • Identify, investigate, analyze, organize and evaluate information yielded from a variety of sources (electronic and print) to determine a donor prospect’s financial capacity, ability to give, philanthropic interests, and relationship to K-LOVE.
  • Devise research strategies and methods including developing creative research methods to identify potential donors and/or new donor prospects. Identify the type of information to look for and determine what relevant donor information (biographical and financial, philanthropic interest, history of previous donations, prior ministry solicitation, etc.) is needed to craft fundraising and cultivation strategies.
  • Perform portfolio analysis, portfolio penetration, proposal activity, etc. and provide on-going assessments of programs' effectiveness — coordinate routine and ad hoc analysis – continuously refining portfolios through data analysis and reviews.
  • Identify new sources of wealth and track existing sources.
  • Analyze financial publications and corporate disclosures to deepen relationships with current donors and to identify new donor prospects to build a robust ministry donor base.
  • Investigate new donor prospects and constantly re-evaluate and monitor established donor sources in preparation for computing wealth assessments.
  • Participate in planning long – and – short-term development strategies with the Manager to solicit funds and meet department fundraising targets.

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
  • 4 plus years of experience as a fundraising professional.
  • Demonstrated experience in prospect development (or related field), data analysis, databases, internet resources, and other references. Experience working for a non-profit, foundation, or academic environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with standard biographical and financial reference sources required, as well as knowledge of basic research practices. Ability to review, interpret and synthesize a large volume of data into clear, concise analysis while working in a faith-based environment.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills in working with confidential data. Ability to deliver analysis with an appropriate balance of brevity and substance and convey financial, statistical and industry information in accessible language.
  • Prefer knowledge of relevant HIPAA privacy laws, federal and state tax laws, and the financial services industry, including investments, securities, mergers & acquisitions, and foreign exchange principles.
  • Strong computer skills: knowledge of Salesforce and iWave preferred. Proficiency with query and analysis techniques and tools used to modify, retrieve, manipulate, and report on information stored in Salesforce, iWave and Excel.
  • Understand how foundations operate and how to comprehend the 990-PF. Utilize GuideStar and 990 Finder. Follow questionable leads and interpret non-specific requests utilizing obituaries, wedding announcements, SEC reports, real estate, and press releases.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to initiate and apply creative solutions. Native curiosity and interest in learning new things. Capable of generating new approaches to uncovering difficult to find or difficult to determine information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines to achieve desired outcomes on time with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately with a very high-volume of donors nationwide.
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality. Need to be seen as a team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
