As our Data Governance & Training Specialist, you'll lead the charge in data governance, hands-on data management, compliance, and continuous process improvement. You'll collaborate with stakeholders, provide top-notch training, and foster a culture of security awareness among our team members and leaders. Here's some of what you will be doing:
- Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Establish guidance for data stewardship roles and responsibilities across departments.
- Develop data protection metrics and lead initiatives to improve data accuracy and consistency.
- Utilize data profiling and cleansing tools.
- Provide guidance and directly assist data protection management such as data cataloging, metadata management, data flow documentation.
- Provide input and guidance on master data management and data protection optimization.
- Design and deliver engaging training on data governance policies, data management, best practices, and compliance requirements.
- Create and recommend training materials such as presentations and e-learning modules.
- Conduct workshops and training sessions for team members of all levels.
- Assess the effectiveness of training and adjust content as needed.
- Collaborate with legal and other teams to interpret regulatory and legal requirements into actionable policies and training materials.
- Work closely with data owners and Information Technology teams.
- Provide hands on support as needed for data protection initiatives.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices with both data protection and training.
- Recommend improvements to existing data protection and training program.
- Measure and report on the impact of data governance and training efforts.
Here's some experience we are seeking:
- Bachelor’s degree in information security, information technology, computer science or related field, or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
- Relevant certifications such as CIPT, CIPP, CISSP, GCCC.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in in data governance, data management, or similar role.
- Strong functional understanding of data handling practices with relevant regulations such as CCPA, COPPA, GDPR, and HIPAA.
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices (NIST Privacy Framework, DAMA-DMBOK).
- Proficiency with data protection management tools such as TrustArc.
- Experience developing and presenting training and presentations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous learning and improvement.
