Overview

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining various financial reports, reconciliations, and records in support of the Finance Department. This role ensures data integrity, supports audit and payroll processes, and contributes to the efficiency and continuous improvement of accounting operations through appropriate technical solutions.

 

This role will be a hybrid role at our Franklin, TN headquarters

 

Here’s just some of what you will be doing daily…

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and identify and resolve transactions requiring reclassification.
  • Record monthly manual journal entries related to accruals and revenue.
  • Reconcile and record payroll activity in the general ledger, including wages, deductions, taxes, and other withholdings.
  • Review and upload Positive Pay files or review exceptions submitted through financial institutions.
  • Submit or approve periodic wire and ACH transactions using online banking portals.
  • Maintain accounting records for new ministry initiatives and support internal controls.
  • Assist with preparation and documentation for ministry audits.
  • Respond to general ledger and payroll inquiries and provide guidance to department Team Members.
  • Support the Finance Department in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist with annual unclaimed property filings and escheatment processes.
  • Cross-train and provide backup support for Fixed Asset and Lease Accounting processes.
  • Complete special projects and assignments as directed by the Assistant Controller.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We are looking for a very specific skill set and business acumen. Here's some experience we are seeking:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a college or university  or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of related accounting experience.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Prior experience using accounting software Oracle Netsuite.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills – with the ability to prepare reports and speak effectively with donors and fellow team members.
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality. Need to be seen as a team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
