Lead the charge in keeping networks running smoothly and tech operations streamlined.
This role is your opportunity to manage the heartbeat of connectivity—the Network Operations Center and Tech Shop—where precision meets performance. From overseeing testing and inventory control to driving process improvements and reporting, you'll be at the center of operational excellence.
**This role will work fully on-site at our headquarters in Franklin, TN. The schedule will be Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5pm.**
What will you do?
- Maintain knowledge of applicable FCC and other applicable rules and regulations and ensure all equipment within area of responsibility is operating safely and legally. Use this knowledge to evaluate and prioritize work assignments.
- Partner and communicate with and at times assign work to engineers (including contract engineers) in other cities and states to accomplish objectives and tasks.
- Interface and build relationships between EMF and manufacturers to maintain awareness of available technical resources through an open exchange of information.
- Oversee documentation of the procedures used in areas of responsibility.
- Provide team training as needed to accomplish the organization’s goals.
- Proactively communicate and work with others resolve problems.
- Perform installations or repairs at remote sites as required.
- Oversee the RF Compliance Proof calendar and equipment kits, including delegation of workflow, scheduling, and shipping/receiving the Proof kits, as well as maintaining records of their locations.
- Delegate and/or perform remote RF Proof of Performances and document results according to standards.
- Process, track, and maintain record of all RMAs, including equipment sent to third parties for repair, in a timely manner.
- Provide engineers and others with documentation and technical assistance when required.
- Update records and reports in NAV, SUI, Maintenance Connection, and other systems to ensure they are kept up to date and accurate within areas of responsibility.
- Work with Director of Engineering and Procurement to set and maintain inventory flooring levels. Maintain shop stock of items outside regular inventory.
- Ensure that team follows routine inventory control processes.
- Assist in team’s tasks and duties as required for efficient operation of the team and accomplishment of goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelors’ Degree, or combination of education/training with relevant experience.
- Minimum 1-2 years’ management experience required.
- SBE Certification a plus.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply broadcast related FCC rules and regulations.
- Thorough understanding of the components necessary in a broadcast air-chain.
- Proven ability to deal with multiple, simultaneous problems in a systematic, logical manner.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to carry out calculations in common broadcast-related formulae such as transmitter efficiency, transmitter power output, wavelengths, and antenna system gain.
- Proficient understanding of radio frequency emissions.
- Ability to solder and de-solder electronic components without causing damage to the components or PC board.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.
- Strong organizational, coordination, and delegation skills.
- High attention to detail, technical aptitude, a strong teamwork ethic, and the ability to work on many different projects simultaneously while maintaining high level of accuracy.
- Strong computer skills; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and analytics tools. Knowledge of Maintenance Connection, WebEx and Comstudy a plus, but not required. Visio and AutoCAD a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently; establishing and meeting performance/ministry goals.
- A collaborative and flexible style, with strong service mentality. Need to be seen as a team player.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop sincere business/ministry relationships.
