As a Network Operations Center (NOC) Shift Supervisor at EMF Headquarters, you'll be more than just a supervisor. You'll be an integral part of the NOC, working alongside your team to provide top-notch support to our engineering department. Your role will involve offering mentorship, leadership, and advanced technical support to tackle the most challenging issues. **This role will work fully on-site at our headquarters in Franklin, TN.**

 

What will you do?

  • Supervise the NOC Technicians, providing team-building leadership, mentorship, and maintain the team schedule and timecards.
  • Work regular shifts in the NOC and provide fill-in coverage for absent staff.
  • Interpret and verify coded audible or visible signals received on transmitter remote control systems indicating transmitter or other related problems at EMF’s facilities.
  • Use advanced trouble-shooting skills to isolate and repair equipment and/or resolve software/firmware problems in broadcast equipment.
  • Take corrective and proactive action to resolve problems or report problems to Engineers and/or coordinate contract personnel for dispatch for corrective action with moderate supervision.
  • Assist Engineers with operation, testing, and remote repair of broadcast equipment (such as remote- control equipment, satellite-fed equipment and communications equipment) used in radio broadcasting.
  • Partner and communicate with employee and contract engineers in Rocklin and in remote locations to accomplish objectives and tasks.
  • Create, update and close work orders.
  • Verify daily delivery and integrity of transmitter and activity logs. In addition, prepare other reports including telemetry analysis as appropriate.
  • Adjust Network Operations Center equipment to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Assist in various adjustments and repairs to EMF uplink and related equipment.
  • Contribute written documentation of processes and procedures, adhering to EMF Documentation standards, as required and directed by supervisor.
  • Proactively contributes to the team environment, balancing team and individual responsibilities. Build morale and group commitment to goals and objects, providing support and encouragement within the work environment.
  • Maintain professional competency, knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform job duties by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by Manager.

What are we looking for?

  • Associate Degree, or combination of education/ technical school + 24 months equivalent experience or 36 months or more related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience with consistent demonstration of proficiency, competency and accuracy under minimal supervision.
  • SBE “Radio Operator Certification”.
  • Possess excellent leadership and team-building skills.
  • 1 year experience in the EMF Network Operations Center or Engineering Department.
  • Advanced knowledge of transmitter operations and legal limits.
  • Advanced knowledge of SMTP, IP, VSAT, Remote Control Systems, Processors, Endecs, etc. to perform NOC duties as assigned and provide 2nd level troubleshooting of broadcast and communication equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate understanding and ability to isolate problems with satellite technology.
  • Ability to think logically from problem to solution and when appropriate develops alternative solutions
  • Proven ability to deal with multiple, simultaneous problems in a systematic and logical manner.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to communicate internally and externally and respond to "customer" concerns.
  • Ability to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with problems and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products and other common software (internet browsers, etc.).
  • Ability to develop a basic understanding of FCC rules and regulations over time.
