Join Our Team as a Regional Engineering Manager at K-LOVE!

Are you ready to lead and inspire a dynamic team of field engineers and technicians? As the Regional Engineering Manager, you'll oversee the operation and maintenance of K-LOVE's radio broadcasting facilities and satellite uplinks across your designated region. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, you'll ensure compliance with FCC regulations while driving excellence in our broadcasting services. If you're passionate about engineering and thrive in a leadership role, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

**This position will manage and support our field engineers and tower sites in the South Central US; therefore, only candidates who reside in the South Central region of the United States will be considered.**

Here's some of what you will be doing:

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision Implementation:
    • Proactively influence ministry culture, leading by example in demonstrating collaboration, empowerment, innovation, creativity, and service, aligning with K-LOVE's Mission and Values.
    • Contribute to long-term planning and vision implementation, identifying strategic initiatives, prioritizing efforts, and evaluating results to preserve K-LOVE's reputation for excellence.
    • Engage with the Director of Engineering and other ministry stakeholders on departmental issues, trends, and proposals for strategic initiatives.
  • Operational Oversight & Performance Management:
    • Oversee strategic planning and implementation for the regional team, focusing on Engineering goals, timelines, budgets, communication, results tracking, and celebration.
    • Assess Engineering performance against goals, providing strategic recommendations based on operational analysis, cost identification, and resource allocation.
    • Ensure robust tools and systems provide critical operational and project information, making actionable recommendations on strategic goals and constraints.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor supporting budgets, acting as a front-line approver for team purchases and project-related expenditures.
  • People Leadership & Talent Development:
    • Provide comprehensive leadership for the regional Engineering team, ensuring ministry-wide collaboration, facilitating appropriate resolution of issues, and managing competing priorities.
    • Develop and mentor staff by evaluating performance, providing targeted coaching, training, and growth opportunities.
    • Foster a learning environment where training, risk management, operational best practices, and biblical values intertwine with creative solutions.
  • Technical Acumen & Strategic Guidance:
    • Ensure K-LOVE's radio programs are broadcast to the highest quality by providing technical and staff leadership to a team chartered with installing, testing, operating, maintaining, and repairing broadcast equipment.
    • Maintain expert knowledge of FCC rules and regulations, ensuring the department and all equipment operate safely and legally.
    • Possess a thorough, expert-level understanding of Field Engineer III responsibilities and technical domains (complex air-chain, IP-based distribution, advanced microwave, LEO satellite (e.g., Starlink) technologies, and deep understanding of RF emissions and interference mitigation). This enables the ability to discern the veracity of technical problem assessments and proposed solutions from the team.
    • Continually evaluate and make recommendations for process and technical improvements through researching, designing, and developing new technologies.
    • Plan and prepare schematic drawings designed to modify and improve existing transmitter equipment, understanding technical implications.
    • Direct and coordinate equipment modification activities to prevent interruptions in transmitting operations.
    • Partner and communicate with engineers (including contract engineers) to accomplish critical objectives, overseeing these collaborations.
  • Site Management & Operational Readiness:
    • Ensure the highest level of productivity through optimal pairing of projects and staff, and efficient preparation of work schedules.
    • Occasionally make trips to remote sites for strategic oversight, significant installations, or critical assessments as required.
    • Oversee the regional on-call rotation schedule, ensuring adequate coverage and response protocols.
    • Perform other duties as required.
